AS WITHOUT SO WITHIN
This is considered to be a universal truth or law. Our outside world is a reflection of our inner world.
If we want the outside world to work well for us, we have to make sure our inside world is headed in the right direction.
When I’m running the two-day workshop “The Centre Within” I play a piece of audio from the stage show “Time” which I saw in London in the 1980’s.
This is part of that three minute excerpt:
“Your life is an expression of your mind. You are the creator of your own universe. For as a human being you are free to will whatever state of being you desire, through the use of your thoughts and words. There is great power there.
“It can be a blessing or a curse. It is entirely up to you. For the quality of your life is brought about by the quality of your thinking.”
If you have done “The Centre Within” with me or any of my other workshops, you will recall I write the words “We Become What We Think About”.
The power of the words we speak and the thoughts we think is immeasurable.
Changing our words can, indeed, change our world. And making those changes to the way we speak and think is the fastest way to make changes in our lives.
One of my favourite books that I would call a ‘recommended read’ is Esther and Jerry Hicks’ “Ask and It Is Given”. A great quote from that book (and there are many!) is “Man is born with the instinctive knowledge that he is the one who creates his own reality.”
The problem is the doubts, fears, hesitancy, lack of confidence, low self esteem, uncertainty, skepticism etc. all creep into our thinking and affect our belief system.
After all, a belief is only a thought we keep thinking. Maybe it is time to change our thinking, change our words and change our beliefs.
Where to start?
A wonderful phrase from Bert Weir who created “The Centre Within” course many decades ago is this: “Stand Guard Over Your Mouth”. Great advice!
- Listen to the words you speak, out loud and in your head, and make sure they are positive.
- Double negatives are not positives. “Don’t forget” does not mean “Remember”; “Not bad” isn’t the same as “Very well, thank you”. Keep all your words positive.
- Never put yourself down – even in jest!
- Throw out the ‘ought to’, ‘have to’, ‘should’ and ‘must’ words and start to say ‘I choose to….’ That means you are taking back your Personal Power, rather than those actions owning your time and energy.
- Whatever your wants and desires, start to speak about them in positive terms, i.e. speak the end result. And when a negative thought like “Oh that will never happen.” comes into your head find a positive thought to counteract it. This takes diligence, but eventually your negative comments will stop because your belief will have changed.
- Write out a list of Affirmations (positive statements that reflect your desires). These can be for anything you want – abundance, health, achievements, goals. Read the list, in your head as well as saying them out loud at every opportunity.
Keep working at it. When your beliefs change and your beliefs match your wants and desires, then they will become your reality.
Happy month everyone. Love and Laughter,
