At the end of your life, as you’re about to leave this earth will you utter the words – “I wish I’d spent more time in the office”?

I don’t think so….! Sometimes we hear how people wish they’d spent more time doing this or doing that, but I doubt ‘the office’ would come up too often.

If you are someone who is getting all the joy out of life, achieving what you want, enjoying wonderful relationships, a positive healthy lifestyle that is aligned with your extraordinary sense of fulfillment and well being – then don’t read on – congratulations, you’ve got it sorted.

If, however, you’re not quite in that space, and you feel that there are areas that could do with some improvement, perhaps we might look at some things we can do to get more out of living.

Life is an adventure. It’s not going to be great all the time, we’re not going to be happy every day – that would be boring. We’d be less likely to appreciate the high times if we didn’t have the odd low point. “Things” are going to happen and we need to deal with whatever life throws at us with the best Attitude we can muster.

Mostly, life is about choices – it’s up to us how we respond to life and to what happens around us. And it takes diligence to keep our Attitude positive. Attitude is everything – it is how we think, act, work and play on a daily basis that sets the pattern for our Attitude to life and living.

“How simple it is to see that all the worry in the world cannot control the future. How simple it is to see that we can only be happy now. And that there will never be a time when it is not now.”
~ Gerald G. Jampolsky

We’ve all, no doubt, read that email that goes around every so often. “If I had my life to live over…..” (If you haven’t read it, it’s attributed to the American columnist Erma Bombeck when she was diagnosed with cancer. She said she would talk less and listen more, kick up her heels, eat more ice cream etc. Great sentiments.) None of us wants to get to the end of our lives, with a series of “Gee, I wish I’d done….”

Welcome to the rest of your life. I believe Life is about Balance. Maybe a quick assessment of your Life Balance might help you to make the most of ‘now’ (‘cos basically, all we have is ‘now’). Let the things over which you have no control just ‘be’ (waste of energy if you worry about them). They will eventually sort themselves out (one day it will rain, the market will come back, things will improve/change…)

Instead, concentrate on the things over which you DO have control, like these……
work smart, relax, achieve, be daring, do what you love, love what you do, push through your fears, nurture your loving relationships, take risks, chill out, hug your kids, cry, pat yourself on the back (every day), appreciate those closest to you, be grateful, forgive (everyone, everything), laugh heartily, play lots, enjoy each day.

Have a wonderful month. Remember to love well and to laugh often – both are therapeutic.
