LIVING OUR BEST LIFE AS THE FABULOUS NEW YEAR ROLLS ON

Of all the “Happy New Year” wishes that have been said and written, the descriptive word that has come up most for me has been “Fabulous”. Personally, I am very happy to accept that 2024 is going to be Fabulous. I am looking forward to it.

We often look back at the year just past and do a quick assessment: What were our wins? Our losses? What did we learn? What are we most grateful for? Is there anything we have let go from last year? What things could we have done better?

For many, 2023 was somewhat of a rollercoaster. World problems not withstanding, many people have been living through tough and very uncertain times. And some of those things are ongoing.

Looking back and assessing can be a great learning curve, as long as we don’t focus on the negatives. There will always be things that went awry, but that is how we learn. Rather than caning ourselves over things not done well, just accept that we did the best we could do at the time, given our knowledge, awareness, training and many other variables.

Remember to give yourself “correction” rather than “criticism”. Correction goes something like this: “OK, you didn’t handle that well, but next time you’ll do it a whole lot better.”

And please, give yourself a giant pat on the back for the things you did well and the achievements you made last year. We sometimes forget to remind ourselves of all the good things we have done and achieved.

There are always going to be things that are inevitable, things over which we have no control, like weather events, interest rates, rising prices etc. There is much that we do have control over and these are the things we concentrate on as we move into the Fabulous Year of 2024.

For me, early January is Goal Setting time. What do I want to achieve over the next 12 months?

What does your year look like? What do you want to achieve? Where do you want to go? What does 2024 look like for you personally, for your family, for your business? Good Points to Ponder!

I have a dear friend of many decades, (I’m trying not to say “old friend” here) who tells me when she opens up her Newsletter, the first thing she looks at is the Quote Box.

I love this one (see below) and I’m not sure where it came from. Sometimes I think the quotes just find me!

Regrets: We have all done things we wish we hadn’t. It depends on how we look at it. Here’s where our Attitude comes into play. We accept that the decision we made at the time to do or say what we did was appropriate at that moment. This can be a tough one to handle, given our training to always do the ‘right’ thing. Remember we are not our behaviour. We were born OK, we have always been OK and we will always be OK.

Anxiety: The future will unfold as it is meant to. We set our goals, keep up our affirmations, see and speak the end results we want. Be careful not to get caught in the “what ifs”. They will only lead to negative feelings of worry and frustration and all too easily we can wind up in Resentment.

Gratitude: Ah! Always be grateful. We are blessed in so many ways. Be thankful every day. Those of you who have my Workbook know the first chapter is about Gratitude. Being grateful is the first step in turning Negatives into Positives.

As the holiday season subsides, keep spreading that much-needed kindness, goodwill, joy and happiness, and have a Fabulous 2024.

Happy January. Much Love and Laughter,
